Praça do Município
The Jewish quarter known as Judiaria das Taracenas, or Judiaria Nova / Pequena, shrunk to one only street west of S. Julião church. During construction works for the bank of Portugal’s headquarters, the area was partially discovered by archaeologists and was identified as being from the Middle Ages, corresponding to what is now the town hall building – Paços do Concelho. The other part of the area several times quoted by some authors was no longer identifiable.
