Real Fábrica

Today a restaurant with no ties to the Jewish community, as was for a long time a slaughter house and a butcher for kosher products for the community, as well as for the social kitchen and the Jewish hospital. The butcher shop faced the street and the slaughter house at the back. Closed in 1990, when large supermarkets became more practical.

Sinagoga Shaaré Tikvah

The actual very elegant turn of the century style synagogue was built between 1902 and 1904 and replaced several other smaller synagogues existing in Lisbon until then. The project was signed by Ventura Terra, east/west oriented and the Torah scrolls came from an older synagogue located at Beco das Linheiras which had been built in 1813.
